Lacrosse at Sam

Sam Houston State first competed in lacrosse during the 1981
season. The Bearkats quickly rose through the ranks in the
SWLA's College Division, however, defeating Texas A&M twice
and making the playoffs in 1983.

Throughout the 1980's through 1991, Sam remained one of the
SWLA's most consistent playoff contenders and was always a
threat to win the title.

Hard times befell the program in the nineties, however, and
Sam dropped out of the SWLA prior to the 1999 season.

In 1999, Sam joined the GCLA as an at-large member but re-entered
the SWLA/Lone Star Alliance, where they competed through the
2003 season.

For 2004, the Bearkats will compete in the GCLA College Division.
